Prof Dr Mai Chun Wai

Prof. Dr. Mai Chun Wai is a Professor at the Institute for Research, Development and Innovation (IRDI), IMU University. A fully registered pharmacist in Malaysia and Chartered Scientist (Royal Society of Chemistry, UK), his research explores multiomic approaches in cell and cancer biology, with a strong focus on rational drug design. Since joining YSN-ASM in 2018, he has been a dedicated advocate for scientific integrity and research excellence, while actively nurturing the next generation of scientists through mentoring and capacity-building initiatives.

Dr. Phan Chia Wei

Vice-Chairperson

Dr. Phan Chia Wei is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Pharmaceutical Life Sciences, Faculty of Pharmacy, Universiti Malaya. His expertise spans mycology, medicinal mushrooms, microbiology, and functional food research, with a focus on neuroprotection and aging. He actively contributes to translational research, postgraduate supervision, and academic-industry collaborations. As Vice Chair of the Young Scientists Network–Academy of Sciences Malaysia (YSN-ASM), he champions responsible conduct of research (RCR), science media and communication, and international networking to elevate Malaysia’s young scientsts’ impact.

Dr. Ng Siew Kit

Secretary-General

Dr. Ng Siew Kit is a dedicated researcher and senior lecturer in Biological Sciences (Biochemistry & Immunology) at the Advanced Medical and Dental Institute (AMDI), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM). He joined AMDI‑USM in 2015 and contributes to both teaching and research, particularly in molecular biosciences with interests spanning biochemistry, immunology, and RNA‑related biological processes.

Dr. Thaigarajan Parumasivam

Honorary Treasurer

Thaigarajan Parumasivam is the current tresurer of Young Scientist Network – Academy of Sciences Malaysia (YSN-ASM) and president of Malaysian Society of Pharmaceutical Technology (MSPT). His research focuses on both microbiology and drug delivery in which places him in a unique position to design an efficacious and microbiologically sound formulation system, especially for pulmonary and brain delivery. He is also a recipient of the Global Young Scientist Summit – Singapore 2019, ASEAN Science Leadership Fellowship 2019 and Excellence Award of the Council of Pharmacy Deans (MDF) 2023, Council of Pharmacy Deans 2023.
