About YSN-ASM

The Young Scientists Network-Academy of Sciences Malaysia (YSN-ASM) was established on December 12, 2012, under the auspices of the Academy of Sciences Malaysia. Our mission is to foster a collaborative environment where young scientists can contribute to the nation’s scientific and technological advancement. We are dedicated to nurturing talent, promoting interdisciplinary research, and addressing key national issues through science and innovation.

YSN-ASM is dedicated to shaping a better future for Malaysia by empowering young scientists through Science, Technology, Innovation, and Economy (STIE). Our mission encompasses influencing national decision-making in STIE policies, nurturing future talents in science and technology, and promoting research excellence among young scientists. Through strategic collaboration and capacity building, we aim to position Malaysia as a leader in scientific advancement and innovation for national development.

YSN-ASM Steering Committee

Under the YSN-ASM umbrella, the Steering Committee is led by the Executive Committee (ExCo), comprising the Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson, Secretary-General, and Honorary Treasurer. They are supported by five strategic committees, each represented by a Chairperson and Deputy Chairperson

Kuala Lumpur Engineering Science Fair is h an initiative with various programmes and activities that aims to promote and spark interest in science and technology for primary and secondary students. The objectives of the event are to link science concept to everyday life; to nurture awareness about the importance of science to the public; and to increase the interest of science among public.

Junior Art Scientist Competition

The theme for the drawing competition is “After Pandemic, My Future with Science and Technology”. The aim of this drawing competition is to engage the primary school students on how science and technology changes their dreams of future after the COVID-19 pandemic. Besides, the activity supports the creativity, innovative ideas and expressed through art. Therefore, the objective of the event is to encourage primary school students to observe, think and process on how science and technology change the world and their future after pandemic.

YSN-ASM Webinar on Open Educational Resources for STEM: Where and How to Find Them?

The Webinar is to educate teachers and students about searching and using open educational resources for STEM. The speakers are Prof Fong Soon Fook, from Universiti Malaysia Sabah and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jamalludin Harun from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. It has gained 60 reactions in YSN Facebook Live and reached 854 people. Participants indicated that they have gained better confidence in using education resources and that it is very informative.
