YSN-ASM Fully Supports MSN 2026 Meeting, Aligning with ASM to Drive National STIE Growth

A big step forward for Malaysia’s science, technology, and economy happened when Malaysia’s Prime Minister, YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, led the 1st National Science Council (MSN) Meeting 2026 on 11 April 2026. This shows his strong commitment to making Science, Technology, Innovation, and Economy (STIE) the foundation of Malaysia’s economic strength and growth. The National Science Council (MSN) plays a key role in creating policies and strategies to boost the country’s STIE abilities, focusing on people’s well-being, economic and social development, and keeping Malaysia competitive globally.

Our YSN-ASM Chairperson is honored to be a member of the MSN, along with 14 ministers and the ASM President, all working together to shape Malaysia’s STIE future. We are grateful for the Prime Minister’s forward-thinking leadership—it matches our main goal of empowering young scientists and helping Malaysia progress through STIE. The MSN plays a key role in creating policies and strategies to boost the country’s STIE abilities, focusing on people’s well-being, economic and social development, and keeping Malaysia competitive globally. This important MSN meeting not only confirms the government’s plan to use STIE to tackle big global challenges, but also helps build a more sustainable, fair, and successful future for all Malaysians. YSN-ASM is fully ready to contribute our skills and talent to this effort.

At YSN-ASM, we stand with the Academy of Sciences Malaysia (ASM), which proposed seven Mission-Oriented Initiatives (MOI) being named national priorities. ASM worked closely with all relevant government ministries and partners to align these MOIs, and they fit perfectly with Malaysia MADANI’s goal of building a stronger, more inclusive, and value-driven economy. We’re fully committed to supporting these initiatives by getting young scientists across the country involved and motivated.

The seven identified Mission-Oriented Initiatives (MOI) are:
1. Kedaulatan dan Keterjaminan Makanan (Food Sovereignty and Security)
2. Penciptaan Nilai dalam Industri Sawit (Value Creation in the Palm Oil Industry)
3. Kesejahteraan dan Pemerkasaan Masyarakat Menua (Well-being and Empowerment of the Elderly Community)
4. Industri Semikonduktor Termaju (Advanced Semiconductor Industry)
5. Pemerkasaan Penjagaan Kesihatan Digital (Empowerment of Digital Healthcare)
6. Teknologi Kuantum (Quantum Technology)
7. Kedaulatan dan Keterjaminan Tenaga (Energy Sovereignty and Security)
We at YSN-ASM are deeply thankful to the Prime Minister for his visionary leadership and ongoing support for STIE. We fully agree with his call for smart, effective action, and we’re proud to stand with ASM to move these important MOIs forward. By getting young people involved in cutting-edge research and teamwork, we want to strengthen the STIE system, boost sustainable economic growth, and deliver useful innovations that put people and sustainability first.

We’re committed to working more closely with the Government, ASM, private companies, and research institutions. This teamwork is key to making sure that groundbreaking research brings real benefits to Malaysians—from better healthcare and food security to more economic opportunities and a healthier environment. Together, we’ll help young talent take the lead in boosting Malaysia’s STIE abilities and economic strength, turning the country’s vision of a successful future into reality.

A special thank you goes to YB Chang Lih Kang and his hardworking team for their constant dedication and valuable efforts to speed up Malaysia’s STIE goals. Their passion and commitment have helped drive progress, and we look forward to continuing to work with them to reach our shared national goals.
